    Son of John and Martha Burke; born July 13, 1891, Burlington, Kentucky. Moved with parents to Lawrenceburg, Indiana, when only a few years of age. Painter. Called into service August 5, 1918, Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Sent to Syracuse, new York; transferred to Edgewood, Maryland. Assigned to 2nd Company, 2nd Battalion, Edgewood Arsenal. Died October 3, 1918, Edgewood Arsenal. Buried in Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. His was the first gold star to be affixed to the Aurora Service Flag.
