Lewis D. Garrison
Lewis D. Garrison, farmer, Lawrenceburgh Township, was born in the same in 1838. His parents were Marvel and Sarah (Groves) Garrison, who died while he was a child. At the age of fourteen he found employment with Hazel Suit, with whom he remained for some time. He then went to Iowa and while there enlisted in Company C, Fourth Iowa Cavalry, and spent about four years in the service of his country. After the close of the war he returned to this county and, in 1866, was married to Mrs. Priscilla (Hayes) Suit, daughter of Joseph Hayes, one of the first settlers of the county. He has since resided chiefly in this locality, engaged in farming, in which pursuit he has been quite successful. He is a member of the F. & A. M., K. T. degree, and also of the I. O. O. F. Mr. and Mrs. Garrison have but one child, Lewis, born June 17, 1870. By her former husband Mrs. Garrison had eight children -five living: William, Joseph, Nancy, Calvin and Sarah J., the latter now wife of Irvin Miller.
