Edward Hayes

Edward Hayes, farmer, Lawrenceburgh Township, was born October 11, 1837, near where he now resides, his parents being Jacob and Leah (Hayes) Hayes. His father settled in this county in 1793, and remained with his parents till about thirty-five years of age. He inherited a considerable tract of land from his father's estate, and by his own exertion has since made additions to this, till he now owns about 400 acres. He was married, in 1859, to Jane E. Nield, daughter of James and Hannah (Whiteley) Nield, both natives of England. Their children are Edward, born in 1864, Silas V., born in 1867, and Joseph, born in 1869. Mr. Hayes is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and one of the many thrifty farmers of Dearborn County.
