from Indianapolis on Saturday last. He left Old Rockford much intoxicated. |

train near the Shoals Monday night and was run over and mangled. He died

Jon Carter died at his residence 5 miles south of this place on the 23rd
inst. At the age of 76 years. He was born in Stafford Co., VA march 16,
1784, he married in 1808 Miss Ginny Sneed. They resided sometime in Patrick
Co., VA from whence they removed to Jennings County, Ind and in march of the
same year to this county. They had 13 children, 8 sons and 5 daughters. The
eldest daughter is 49 and the youngest son is 25 years of age. 1 son and 1
daughter are deceased. Of the others, 2 live in Jeffersonville, 1 in Iowa
and the remaining 8 live in this county. Jon Carter had 55 grandchildren and
8 great-grandchildren. |
