    Son of Robert and Mamie Quinn Coots; born January 8, 1901, Carroll County, Kentucky. Moved to Jefferson County, Indiana in 1914. Drug clerk. Enlisted in U. S. Regular Army February 28, 1918, Madison, Indiana. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio. Transferred to Douglas, Arizona; assigned to Troop I, 7th Cavalry. Died of pneumonia April 15, 1918, Douglas, Arizona. Buried in Springdale Cemetery, Madison, Indiana.
