Wm. Schmidlapp Nichols............1st Lieutenant

    Son of Rev. and Mrs. George D. Nichols; born June 29, 1890, New Paris, Ohio. Moved to Jefferson County, Indiana, when a mere child. Attended Hanover College, Madison, Indiana and graduated from Western Reserve Medical College in 1915. Practicing medicine in Cleveland, Ohio at time of enlistment, August 13,1917. Sent to Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; commissioned First Lieutenant in the Medical Corps. Died as a result of an accident June 21, 1918. Buried in Springdale Cemetery, Madison,  Indiana.
