Mount Vernon, July 30, 1919: The Division Commander cites with pride the conduct in battle of the following named officers and soldiers........Benjamin B. Bain, first lieutenant, 58th Infantry. Near Nantillois, France, October 5, 1918. He delivered rations and ammunition to front line troops, who were in desperate need of same, in the Bois de Fays, without regard to personal safety, fearlessly exposing himself to machine-gun and artillery fire.......By command of Major General Hersey: W.
