Enlisted in Company K, 1st Infantry, Indiana National Guard (Company K, 151st Infantry) Martinsville, April 27, 1917. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss.; transferred to Headquarters Company, 151st Infantry. Overseas June, 1918; assigned to Headquarters Company, 162nd Infantry. Transferred to Company I, 23rd Infantry, 2nd Division. Killed in action October 12, 1918. (place of death and burial unknown.)
