    Son of James M. and Cora B. Wampler; born February 9, 1892, Monroe County, Indiana. Moved to Morgan County in 1909. Farmer. Entered service July 30, 1918, Martinsville, Indiana. Sent to Camp Syracuse, New York; assigned to 23rd Company, 6th Battalion, Recruiting Camp. Transferred to Camp Merritt, new Jersey; assigned to Guard and Fire Company, No. 338. Died of pneumonia October 8, 1918, Camp Merritt, New Jersey. Buried in South Park Cemetery, Martinsville, Indiana.
