    Son of Thomas A. and Laura V. Bird; born August 8, 1893, Rockdale, Owen County, Kentucky. Moved to Sullivan County, Indiana in 1898. Farmer. Entered service July 25, 1918, Sullivan, Indiana. Sent to Camp Taylor, Kentucky; assigned to 39th Company, 10th Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to 140th Observation Battery, Field Artillery. Contracted pneumonia and died October 6, 1918, Camp Taylor, Kentucky. Buried in Center Ridge Cemetery, Sullivan County, Indiana.
