    Son of John W. and Emma Sproatt Cooper; born November 10, 1890, Carlisle, Sullivan County, Indiana. Farmer. Entered service July 1, 1918, Sullivan, Indiana. Sent to Valparaiso, Indiana; assigned to Company C, Training Detachment. Transferred 46th Service Company, Signal Corps, Burlington, Vermont; then to Chemical Warfare Service, Neola Park, Cleveland, Ohio, where he died of influenza December 8, 1918. Buried Carlisle, Sullivan County, Indiana.
