    Son of Henry and Suranda J. Crowder; born November 3, 1897, Rockport, Spencer County, Indiana. Moved to Sullivan County in 1917. Coal miner. Enlisted in U. S. Regular Army June 19, 1918, Clinton, Indiana. Sent to Jefferson Barracks, Missouri; assigned to 23rd Recruiting Company, General Service, Infantry. Died of pneumonia October 6, 1918, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Sullivan County, Indiana.
