Fischer, Battery A, 15th Field Artillery:...........These three chiefs of section remained at their posts and kept their pieces firing continually for eighteen hours, from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., July 23, 1918, the battery being under shell fire at different times during this period. During the attack previous to this, the battery had been firing practically day and night. Silver star. Order No. 13.354 "D", February 8, 1919, General Headquarters, French Armies of the East. From October 2 - 12, 1918, near Blanc Mont his battery being bombarded and an ammunition depot having exploded, he removed the boxes of fuses which were commencing to burn near a pile of shells.
Bronze star. Order No. 15.165 "D", March 29, 1919, General Headquarters, French Armies of the East: On July 23, 1918, near Soissons, he displayed courage in command of a piece of artillery which was subjected to an enemy fire.
