Mathew Cavanagh
Mathew Cavanagh is a native of County Wexford, Ireland, and was born in 1827. His parents are Patrick and Bridget (Roach) Cavanagh, likewise natives of Ireland, who, about the year 1851, emigrated to America, settled in Orleans County, New York, moved to Warren County, Indiana, two years later, and in 1865 to Clay County, Missouri, where they now reside. They are the parents of eight children -Mathew, Michael, Mary, John, James, Philip, Patrick and Edward. Our subject, Mathew Cavanagh emigrated to this country in the spring of 1848, landing at New York City, thence going to Orleans County, and in 1850 to Williamsport, Indiana. H was married at La Fayette, Indiana, August 8, 1858, to Margaret Georty, a native of County Meath, Ireland, a union productive of six children -infant son (deceased), Edward, James (deceased), Thomas, Philip and Elizabeth (deceased).
