Jacob Sheffer

    Jacob Sheffer was born in Warren County, Indiana in 1840, and is a son of Nicholas and Matilda Sheffer. He was educated at the common schools of the day, and entered the volunteer army in 1862, being assigned to the Army of the Cumberland. After his discharge he attended school most of the time until the fall of 1864, when he re-enlisted, was assigned to the army of the Potomac, and served until the close of the war.

    In 1873 he was married to Delphine Schlosser, by which union they had one child, Wilmer. Mr. and Mrs. Scheffer are industrious people, and promising members of their community.
