David L. Hart

David L. Hart, ex-Sheriff of Warrick County, is the fourth born in a family of ten children of William and Sarah (Farmer) Hart. The father came with his father to Warrick County, Indiana, at a very early day, and located in the township that now bears their name, where he engaged in agricultural pursuits, and where he passed the remainder of his life, his death occurring August 26, 1856. Mrs. Hart still survives him.

David L. Hart is now living in his native county, his birth occurring April 1, 1834. He secured a common school education in youth, and on the attainment of his majority purchased a farm in Hart Township adjoining the old homestead, which he cultivated for five or six years, boarding at home during the while. In 1865 he purchased 180 acres half a mile north of Boonville, upon which he moved and remained until 1870. He was then elected to the office of County Sheriff, and two years later was re-elected, serving in all four years. In August, 1875, he moved to his present place of residence, and is now recognized as one of the county's best and most successful farmer.

On the 20th of April, 1875, he wedded Theresa F. Swint, by whom he is the father of four children, named William E., R. E., Claude A. and Ruth.
