Near St. Etienne-a-Arnes on October 4 and 5, 1918, he contributed by his bravery to their evacuation.

Assigned to Medical Department, Base Hospital No. 36; transferred to Medical Department, Ambulance Company No. 1616; to Medical Department, 15th Ambulance Company, 2d Sanitary Train. Overseas December 4, 1917 - August 6, 1919. Battles: Vaux, Soissons, St. Mihiel, Blanc Mont, Meuse-Argonne. Discharged August 16, 1919.
