Philip Anthes
Philip Anthes is a native of Prussia. He came to America in 1868, first locating at Van Wert, Ohio, where he engaged in the bakery trade. After seven months residence in Van Wert, he went to Fort Wayne and engaged in the same business there for nearly eighteen months. He came to Columbia City in 1870, where he has since resided. He embarked in the grocery and saloon business upon coming here, and is now conducting one of the best places of its kind in the city. He is an enterprising business man, and liberal in all matters of public improvement. He is a member of the I.O.R.M., in which he has passed all the chairs. Mr. Anthes was married in 1870, to Miss Kate Sipe, a native of Stark County, Ohio. Their childen are -Philip, Adolph, Emile, Lavina and Ida.
