·         Charles A. CLEMENT is hereby notified that Jefferson SOWARDS will, on the 24th day of February, 1869, at one o'clock P.M. offer proof before us at this office in support of his allegation that the said Charles A. CLEMENT as abandoned his Pre-emption claim to the W 1/2 of SW 1/4 of section 34, township 24 south, range 17 east--filing No.2645 [or 2615?]Land Office, Humboldt, Kansas, January 28, 1869.

·         Col. O. THURSTON has had his barn painted. It looks nice.

·         Nick PLATT is improving the looks of his bakery building by having it painted.

·         The wife of Capt. T. I. HURD has been spending the greater part of the winter in the east. She arrived here this week.

·         We had a thunder shower on Thursday morning. We can appreciate such blessings in the summer time, but are hardly prepared for them in mid-winter.

·         The crowded state of District Hall on the evening of Prof. REDFIELD's concert demonstrated the fact that we are badly in need of a large public hall.... the sooner the better.

·         Expences [sic!] of Allen County [monies were paid to the following individuals on January 11, 1869: Henry DUDLEY, A. N. FOSTER, Josephy TEMPLETON, G. DEWITT, S. I. STAUBER, G. W. BROWN, F. HARTWELL, A. J. CLARK, Somon [sic!] HOLT, J. L. CHRISTEY, Joseph WOOLT (?), H. C. BOSTWICK, R. FITZ SIMONS, J. GILKERSON, Jr., James FLECK, J. McCLURE, C. McCLURE, F. G. EWING, Catherine LEAK, N. F. ACERS, J. B. ARNETT, W. F. WAGGONER, J. HARRIS.

·         Expences [sic!] of Allen County [monies were paid to the following individuals on January 27, 1869: Henry GIVLER, G. W. BROWN, J. FAULKNER, C. N. WELLER, W. BUCHANNAN, J. C. CLARK, Seth RHOADS, S. I. STAUBER, H. K. WINANS, S. I. PHILIPS, John LEROY, W. H. PHEBUS, Wm LOBOUGH, W. R. LOBOUGH, J. H. FAULKNER, W. E. DOUD.

·         Thomas J. BARTON and William BARTON are hereby notified that James A. BROWN will, on the 15th day of March, 1869, at 1 o'clock p.m. offer proof before us at this office in support of his allegation that the said Thomas J. BARTON has abandon his Pre-emption filing no. 2763... Also that the said William BARTON has abandoned his Pre-emption filing no. 2765... Land Office, Humboldt, Feb. 1, 1869.
