The envelope is post marked Gosport Ind March 29 and is addressed to Mr. James B. Young, Humboldt, Kans

Gosport Ind.
March 29th 1861

Dear Son James:

On the 2nd inst I mailed a letter to you inclosing $75 to you.  Having received a line from Evan of the 12th saying nothing about mine to you.  I supposed it had not arrived then-but I was disappointed in not receiving one from you today believing that you would acknowledge the reception at the earliest opportunity.  I am now a little doubtful it has gone astray; the PM is uneasy as it was a registered letter. You will please reply instantly on the reception of this.--

We are all well.  I have just received a line from H.P. of the 20th he was well and seemed to enjoy himself.  Nothing strange has happened with us.  The weather is fine.  We are ??ieing on our business as usual.  We will write again in due time. Our love to all

Forever.

Your Father,

Scott W. Young
