Dr. John E. Sombart died at Wichita the 7th, after undergoing an operation for
appendicitis. Dr. Sombart was tried in this city for the killing of one Mr.
Murphy in Coldwater. He was acquitted. The killing of Murphy did more to
divide the town of Coldwater than any other factor, and the town has never
recovered from the effects.
