Two Men Kill Each Other in Winfield.
From Francis Hall we learn of a shooting affray in Winfield last Saturday
night in which both participants lost their lives. The Democrats were having a
jubilee. Both men were drinking, which is supposed to have been the principal
cause. The parties were Sandy Burris, an ex-policemen, and a colored man named
Fletcher Burns, fired the first, second and third shots, the latter piercing his
foe in a vital spot. As Fletcher fell he drew his pistol and fired at Burns
with sure aim, bringing him to the ground. Fletcher died in about two hours and
Burns on Monday.
