Clark County Clipper, April 18, 1907
Mrs. Ella Gilchrist Towner
Mrs. Ella Towner of near Lexington in this county departed this life at Brazil,
Ind. the 12th. inst.
Deceased was the wife of C. C. Towner, and there are no more highly respected
people in the county. Before her marriage, she was Miss Ella Gilchrist. Mrs.
Towner united with the Christian church at Brazil about two years ago and lived
the Christian life. The sympathy of the community will go out to Mr. Towner in
this hour of sorrow.
The following is from the Daily Times of Brazil of the 13th:
Mrs. Ella Towner of Lexington, Kansas, died at 10 o'clock yesterday morning in
this city, aged 39 years and two days. She has been ill of tumor for a long
time, and recently came to this city in the hope that the change and medical
attention of local physicians would bring help. Despite every effort made even
an operation, in which there was but a tiny thread of hope, she grew worse and
died. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. Andrew Spear, Sr., of this city. She
leaves a husband who was with her when the end came, but no children. The
remains will be taken to Lexington, Kansas, tomorrow morning at 1:04. The
funeral will occur there next Tuesday.
