Orville Leonard (Barney) BARNGROVER, 64, died early Monday in Trinity Hospital, following a heart attack.  He had been in poor health for several years but his death was unexpected.

Mr. Barngrover was born Jun 3, 1905, in Stafford County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Barngrover.  The family came to Ford County in 1906 and Mr. Barngrover was almost a life-long resident of this county.

He and Mary ZUBECHEN were married July 25, 1923, in Dodge City.  Mr. Barngrover was a farmer and stockman of the county.  They moved into Dodge City in 1942.  Mr. Barngrover was sheriff of Ford County from 1953 to 1957 and for the last six years had been city finance commissioner.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the local St. Bernard Masonic Lodge; the Midian Shrine of Wichita and the Shrine Club of Dodge City; the local Elks Lodge; and the Wichita Consistory.

Survivors include the widow; two brothers, Loren and Dodge City; two sisters, Mrs. E. O. (Edna) Riegel of Dodge City and Mrs. Raymond (DeLoyce) Moeschl of La Porte, Ind.; and a granddaughter, Miss Marsha Dixon of Topeka.  A son, Orville Jr., preceded him in death in 1949.

The funeral has been set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Hulpieu-Swaim Funeral Home with the Rev. Basil Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
