Thomas Brown, 78, a long-time resident of the Wright community died yesterday in Trinity Hospital, where he had been a patient for more than eight months.
He was born November 27, 1881, four miles south of Mulberry in Crawford
County. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Flint Brown. He grew up in Crawford
County and moved to a farm near Hepler at the age of 17, where he and his
brother Ed Brown farmed in partnership.
Mr. Brown came to Ford county in 1905 and settled on a farm three miles east
of Wright, He was married in Dodge City March 26, 1914, to the former Miss
Gertrude Fleming. The couple had lived on the farm near Wright since their
marriage. Thomas and Ed Brown have farmed extensively in the area.
Mr. Brown was a former member of the District 7 school board which he served as treasurer.
Survivors include the widow; a sister, Mrs. Alfred Horton of Elkhart, and three brothers, Ed Brown of Dodge City, Herman Brown of Chandler of Ariz., and Fred Brown of Page, Ariz.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday in the Hulpiu-Swaim Funeral Home, with Dr. Alvin W. Murray, paster of First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Garden Cemetery.
