Joe Pinkney, 82, Dies September 2

Joseph Pinkney, 83, retired farmer of the Ford community, died Thursday morning, 2 September 1971 in the Bucklin District hospital.

He was born 2 December 1887 at Ford, and was a lifetime resident of that community.  He and Elizabeth Brook were married 18 September 1923. Her death was 11 December 1963.

Mr. Pinkney was a member of the Congregational Church at Ford.

Survivors include a son, Robert of Ford; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Patton of Tempe, Arizona; Mrs. Mary Wilderson of Denver, Colorado; and Mrs. Nancy Evans of Kansas City, Missouri: and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, 5 September 1971 at 2:00 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Ford with Reverend Howard Johnson officiating. Mr. Jerry Hager sand “How Great Thou Art” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” with Mrs. Darrell Williams accompanying at the piano.

Casketbearers were Donald Shelly, Roy Hensley, John E. Melia, James Henry, Kay Hawes and Albert Malone.  Burial was in Ford Cemetery.  Minnis Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
