Burgess General Blacksmith Shop
This is a
photo of my grandfather's blacksmith shop in Dodge City. The man standing in
front with the tongs and a horseshoe is my grandfathers son, Stephen Burgess.
Stephen was my fathers brother. Incidentally the photo also shows a portion of
a cafe next door advertising a 5 cent lunch. The grandson of the owner of this
cafe is still living in Dodge City and his name is Gene Gurtner. He is, I
believe, a retired architect. My grandfather was an early settler of Dodge
City.
