Welcome To Stafford County, Kansas

Hello!  My name is Cindy Koegel and I am the host for Stafford County.  If you have some information to share, please email me.

The county of Stafford was named in 1867 in memory of Captain Lewis Stafford.  The town of Stafford was first known as 'Vicker's Sod Hotel.'  Since that was not an appropriate name for a county seat--Stafford's goal--they took the name of the county's name.  But the town was devastated by a tornado and was defeated by St. John in the race for the county seat."
