Asa FINNELL, a student of Corinth Academy, fatally injured by a piano falling on him at the Corinth depot.

Samuel ECKLER of Dry Ridge died at his home, aged 73 years.
Obe, son of Dudley STARNES, died at his home on Eagle Creek.
Mrs. Mortimer SECHREST of Sherman died.

Robert Henry McDUFFIE died at his home on Mill Street.

AUGUST:
W. T. CLARK died at his home on High Street.
Uncle Charley CLAY, one of Grant's oldest citizens, died.

SEPTEMBER:
Joe BREWSAUGH of near Blanchet, mortally wounded by unknown parties.
Wm. MUSSELMAN arrested on suspicion of having participated in the killing of BREWSAUGH.
Walter STEPHENS and Miss Sudie LAFFERTY married.
Miss Daisy ADAMS of Dry Ridge died.
Jessie CHIPMAN died of typhoid fever.

NOVEMBER:
Frank CALDWELL and Allie CARTER were married.

Addison PEPPLER, who was shot near Mt. Zion by John WADE, died of his wounds.

1. Mr. Al EVANS of Crooked Creek died Saturday morning. His remains were interred in the Layton Chapel burying ground Sunday.

Mrs. D. L. CUNNINGHAM celebrated her 61st anniversary on last Friday [January 1]; all of her children were at home except Alvin, of Bellefontain, Ohio.

1. 21st birthday supper given for Hugh Lee CONRAD, son of Mr. and Mrs. John CONRAD of Dry Ridge.

January 13, 1898:
Dry Ridge News:
1. Walter BENNETT and Miss BARNES were married at the residence of the bride's parents January 12.
2. Born to the wife of ED ASHCRAFT, January 5, a boy.

Corinth News: Miss Ola PARKER, daughter of Elijah PARKER, and Kelly LEE were married at the residence of the bride's parents, Wednesday, January 12, Rev. J. A. LEE, brother of the groom officiating.

Yesterday at the residence of Mrs. Cora HOGAN on Paris and Falmouth Streets, Jas. A. O'HARA and Miss Eugenia HOGAN were married by Rev. Willard G. CRAM of the Methodist Church; a school mate of the bride; they left for Cincinnati.

John M. RISEN, prominent farmer of the Oak Ridge neighborhood, died at his home last Saturday afternoon; ill for 6 weeks with lung and stomach trouble; was a son of Joseph and Nancy RISEN; born and raised within a 1/2 mile of the spot in which he died; his father died 25 years ago of milk sickness; his mother died about 5 years ago from being thrown from a runaway buggy; his parents and brother, Joseph RISEN, lay buried in a neglected and decaying private burying ground on the farm of W. D. WESTOVER; John RISEN, at the time of his death, was 42 years old; his funeral was Monday at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church and he was buried in the cemetery at that place; some 15 years ago, he was married to Miss Lizzy DENNY of Cordova, to whom several children were born; is survived by his wife and children, and 3 married and 1 single sister [as printed]; resolutions from his Williamstown Lodge No. 74, K. of P., mentions his wife, Miss Elizabeth DENNY, daughter of William and Nancy DENNY, [who married him on] September 15, 1881; to this union 4 children were born: William, Fannie, John, and Elizabeth; he was 45 years of age at his death [notice different age above]. [Virgil CHANDLER's Grant County Cemeteries, Volume III, Page 179, state "John M. RISEN, aged 44 years, 10 months, 28 days, death date, January 8, 1898."]

James KELLEY and daughter of near Morgan were drowned in a branch near Livingood Station Sunday afternoon. They were attempting to cross when the water upset their buggy and they were carried by the current out into the Licking. Their bodies had not been recovered on Tuesday morning.

Emmett ORR, for 20 years connected with the Owen News, has disposed of that paper and, after his term of office has expired, will moved to North Dakota where he has large interests in town sites and farming lands. It was up there that he met and married his charming wife and to her early home he will return.

William BLACKFORD of Paris, Missouri visited his sisters, Mrs. Silas WIGGINTON and Mrs. H. C. MUSSELMAN.

Miss Corniel[ia] OVERSTREET, music teacher in Georgetown College, was born and partially raised in Williamstown.

John BLACKFORD of Jessamine County, brother of Mrs. H. C. MUSSELMAN and Mrs. Silas WIGGINTON, of this city [Williamstown], who was struck by a train at Lexington crossing last week, died of his injuries at the Lexington Infirmary on Wednesday; buried in Lexington Cemetery; Nathaniel BLACKFORD, a brother, will visit in Williamstown for a few weeks; and aged uncle [Jacob SANDUSKY of Shelbyville] was killed instantly in the same accident.

Died, Monday morning, January 3, 1898 - Mrs. Sarah J. RUDICILL at her home in Jessamine County; buried in Nicholasville, Kentucky cemetery; maiden name was FERGUSON; was born October 6, 1848 in Grant County; married Jeremiah RUDICILL Jr. about 38 years ago; their children: Edward E., Thomas R., Willie W., and Elihu; lived near this place until some 3 months ago,

Holbrook News:
1. Clarence HENSLEY and Miss Nannie COOK were married by Rev. NIX last Thursday.
2. Born to the wife of William JEWETT, a 10 pound girl.
3. W. T. BICKERS and wife returned from Sanders Station [Carroll County, Ky.] last week. [A relative, Robert Nelson BICKERS and his family, lived there.]

Mason News:
1. Miss Nannie WILLIAMS visited her sister, Mrs. BEACH, of Covington, and two daughters.
2. Newton FORNASH was married at Williamstown last Monday. This is the third matrimonial venture Newt has made and is quite young yet.

January 20, 1898:
Unspeakable Crime Committed on An Aged Woman. Husband cover with a pistol while his wife is assaulted [near Crittenden]. Accused are Robert BOLDEN, John STURGEON, Elmer POINTS [son of W. H. POINTS], and Kirt McBEE; the latter two tried to prevent the outrage.

On Monday a writ was sworn out by Ed. FURGESON against John SHINKLE charging him with the offense of seduction on promise of marriage with his sister, Lucy FURGESON. The writ was directed to Grant and other counties.

Quarterly Court Items, Monday, Special Term:
1. William LOWE of the Mason neighborhood, was adjudged a lunatic and taken to the Anchorage asylum; he is 20, strong and healthy, but epilepsy developed and he was at times dangerous.
2. Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Robert CAMPBELL, charged with drawing a piston on his wife; not guilty.

Letter received from the prodigal John J. SECHREST, written 2 months ago from Fort Yukon on the Yukon River in Alaska; he left Grant County several months ago owing several people money.

Mrs. J. D. DAUBMAN, wife of J. D. DAUBMAN, who resides on the Yancey farm north of town, died last Thursday, January 13; husband and a few close friends of the family accompanied her remains for funeral and burial at Ruddell's Mills in Bourbon County; she was born in Bourbon County January 28, 1853; she married April 27, 1892; no children blessed their marriage.

Logan CARLISLE, youngest son of the late John G. CARLISLE, died suddenly at his New York City home on Sunday.

Jesse VARNER and Miss Eva COOK were married at the residence of Rev. G. W. Hill, January 13, 1898.

Mrs. H. C. RHYONES, son and daughter, of Sherman, visited her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth LAWRENCE, of Winchester, Indiana.

Dr. J. M. WILSON, wife, and daughters, Lenora and Emma, attended the wedding of J. Ed. WILSON and Miss Fanny LEE at Falmouth last week.

Warren STEPHENS, wife and infant daughter, left Monday to make their home in Oklahoma Territory.

Over the determined resistance of her father, Miss Daisy LANCASTER of Corinth, and James A. REDNOWER were married Monday at the LeClerk Hotel in Vevay, Indiana; she is only daughter of J. W. LANCASTER, after the elopement, they now live at the home of the groom's brother-in-law, Doc MOORE.

"Lanky Jim", James O. BERRY, the millionaire tramp, died this morning [January 17 at Paducah, Ky.] at the New Richmond Hotel; was about 40 and married twice.

Folsom News: Miss Susie, daughter of James KENDALL of Vevay, Indiana, visited relatives near Elliston.

January 27, 1898:
Letter from J. W. HOLCOMB, formerly of Grant County, now of Frisco, Valley of Canadian River, Oklahoma.

John SHINKLE arrested by the Sheriff of Boone County and brought back to Grant County for trial for the crime of seduction of Lucy FERGUSON upon the promise of marriage; $500 bail was posted by his father, Jas. SHINKLE and Samuel BONAR.

Dr. T. DeWitt TALMAGE, the great preacher, has just married for the 3rd time at the age of 88.

Harry WARD Jr. of Cynthiana is in town looking after the farm interest of his father, 83, who is in California for the winter.

F. B. GREEN of Walton and Miss Hattie BARBOUR of [Williamstown], at the residence of the bride's parents on Main Street married last Tuesday; honeymooned in Cincinnati; groom recently moved from Williamstown to Walton where he is a tinner and roofer; bride is youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. BARBOUR.

Elmer POINTS and Kirtley McBEE were liberated on the charge of rape on the person of Mrs. Sarah FALKNER.

Corinth News:
1. Born to the wife of Jeff SWITZER on the 17th, a boy.
2. Born to the wife of Walter COBB on the 19th, a boy.
3. Born to the wife of Tom DUNN on the 19th, a boy.
4. Born to the wife of James LAWRENCE on th 21st, a boy.
5. A terrible accident which resulted in the death of the infant child of John NEW occurred last Monday. The mother of the child was washing clothes and had a pail of boiling water on the stove which the child by some means turned over on itself scalding it so badly that it died Wednesday.

Sherman News: William Franks, 82, of Bethany, Owen County, visited Grant County relatives; has used tobacco 65 years, showing "plainly that tobacco is a slow poison."

Stewartsville News:
1. Mrs. E. B. BOLES, wife of Dr. E. B. BOLES, of the Forks of Elkhorn, and daughter of B. J. K. SLAUGHTER, of this place, died at her home on the 17th in her 21st year; was buried in Poplar Grove Cemetery beside her mother who died 5 years before.
2. Mr. BLACKBURN, a nephew of Uncle Joe FRANKS, is visiting.

Holbrook News:
1. Born to the wife of R. J. SCROGGIN, a girl.

2. W. C. GREEN of Heekin visited his brother, R. H. GREEN.

February 3, 1898:

1. Miss Florence TRUETT of Corinth, and Walter LUCAS of Scott County, were married at Owenton, Monday, the 24th.
2. Cards are out announcing the marriage of Andy McCUE, Cincinnati, to Miss Ollie HAVICUS, of this place, on the 10th.

Stewartsville News: Little Lutie May FISH died at her home in Stewartsville on the 31st [January 1898]

Mount Pleasant News:
1. Born to the wife of Bal DUNN on the 27th, a girl.
2. Dr. T. L. CLARK, formerly of Grant County, is practicing medicine in Shelby Junction, Montana.
3. Tommie LAWRENCE and wife arranged a surprise 60th anniversary birthday party on the 26th for his mother, Aunt Duck LAWRENCE; 6 children and 14 grandchildren were there; she has never lost a child or grandchild; "the children's father who had fallen asleep [died] left his portrait on the wall looking as though he was glad the children had come."

Jack STURGEON, wanted for a charge of rape [of Mrs. Sarah FAULKNER] in Grant County, has been arrested in Marysville, on the western borders of Kansas; BOLDEN is also in that state. Sheriff G. S. WEBB has gone to bring him back.

Dr. ADAMS, a brother-in-law of Capt. A. G. DeJARNETTE, may be called to preach at the Williamstown Baptist Church.

Nicholas BURCH of Williamstown, celebrated his 70th anniversary last week with a dinner at the home of his brother, Fred BURCH.

J. C. MERCHON and Miss Clara NUXALL were married at the residence of the bride's parent, this county, Wednesday, January 27, 1898. Took train for the Queen City of the West [Cincinnati].

John SHINKLE, charged with seduction, will appear in Circuit Court with $1,000 bond executed by his father, James P. SHINKLE and his uncle, S. L. BONAR.

February 10, 1898:
Having determined to go West, I will offer at public auction on March 10, 1898, all of my property. J. B. ALEXANDER, Mason, Ky.

1. Once more the angel of death has visited our town and claimed its reward, Herndon GUILL, better known as "Bobby", aged 86 years.

1. Wm. HICKS moved to Illinois last week.

Jonesville News: Born to the wife of K. D. BROCK, a boy.

3. Miss Clint WESTOVER and H. G. SMALLY were married at the residence of the bride's parents Tuesday, the 15th, Rev. G. W. HILL officiating; bride is daughter of our hotel man; groom is the son of a prosperous Ohio farmer; will make their home in Franklin, Ohio.

1. Robert KILGORE and Miss Cora WYNN were married at the home of Tom BELEW Sunday evening.
2. Wig MANN and Hattie SIMPSON from near Gardnersville were married at the home of John MANN Wednesday.
3. J. W. DUNN, better known as "Jim Boy" and Miss Pearl FRANKS will be married February 20.

Lawrenceville News: Last Thursday, Isaac ROBINSON and Bell MORRIS, of this place, were married by Rev. FRAKES at the preacher's home.

Chas. STONE and Miss Ina WEBSTER were married at the home of the bride's parents near Mt. Zion, this county, last Thursday, February 10.

Alice Dean RICHARDS, wife of John RICHARDS, of Walton, Kentucky, died January 31, 1898; was the daughter of Jerry DEAN and was born in Gallatin County, December 27, 1856; was married october 1893 and moved to Walton in 1897; passed away at 41 years, 1 month, and 4 days; survived by boy 2 years old, her husband, and mother.

Mrs. Clint BERRY of Frankfort came to the sick bed of her sister, Mrs. Addie ENGLISH, of this place.

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon GRANT (need Miss Bettie WHITE) of Louisville are in Williamstown to visit her parents.

Mrs. Dr. N. S. MATTHEWS was called to the bedside of her father, Colonel INNESS of Columbus, Ohio, who will probably not recover.

Newt, son of James Basset GOUGE and Lawrence CLARK, of this county, have left for the gold nuggets of Alaska.

William MUSSELMAN, charged with the murder of Joe BREWSAUGH, was acquitted Tuesday by the jury as follows: P. J. RENNECKER, 65; T. F. THOMAS, 55; I. N. CONRAD, 54; M. SECHREST, 50; R. E. HARRISON, 44; P. J. CLEMENTS, 26; Frank ELDER, 57; A. DUCHAMP, 55; M. CLEMENTS, 50; Sam SHERIFF, 44; J. T. HEARN, 40; J. R. NORTHCUTT, 34.

1. Mrs. Solomon NICHOLS died at her home near Dry Ridge February 20, aged 77 years; funeral followed by her burial in the family burial ground.
2. James DUNN and Miss Pearl FRANKS were married at Adkins Hall Wednesday evening.
3. Mac REED and wife accompanied by bride's father, T. J. BEACH returned from a visit in Scott County Sunday.

Stewartsville News:
1. Miss Lula KEMPER of New Liberty visited her sister, Mrs. O. D. SLAUGHTER.
2. Frank CALDWELL, wife, and cousin, Miss Sallie HARRISON, visited Mr. CARTER.

Sherman NEWS: Mrs. Mary JONES of Mt. Zion visited her daughter, Mrs. Dr. BONDS at Sparta, who is very ill.

Dr. J. D. VIOLETTE, died Tuesday and will be buried today [Thursday, February 24]; was born in Gallatin County in September 1850 and was approaching his 48th year; was a son of Dr. C. F. VIOLETTE and Susan DEAN VIOLETTE, of that county; one of family of twelve - 6 boys and 6 girls, all of whom survive except one boy; married January 1884 to Miss Futba [spelling?] CARTER, daughter of Frank CARDER [as printed], of this city, their 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, all survive

Dr. N. S. MATTHEWS and son, Raymond, left for Columbus, Ohio to join his wife who is nursing her father, N. S. INNES, who is sick unto death with pneumonia.

Clipping from the Courier-Journal: Thursday, Verner GRANT of Circleville, Ohio, and Miss Elizabeth [Bettie] Thornton WHITE [daughter of H. Clay WHITE of Williamstown], of Louisville, were married by Rev. Edward L. WARREN at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. CRAWFORD, 1428 New Broadway; Misses Mamie CRAWFORD and Elsie HARVEY were the flower girls.

Born to the wife of Joe MENDOZA on February 18, a girl.

James F. DICKERSON of near Flingsville, who has been suffering from partial paralysis for the last half dozen years, died at his old home on Monday night; was about 70 years old, 6 foot 6 inches tall; born and raised in this county; helped to clear the virgin forest on the Pendleton line on Grassy Creek; was married and had a large family; was buried in the family burying around on Wednesday; was a cousin of our townsmen, W. W. and R. T. DICKERSON.

Jack STURGEON's bail set at $10,000 for the rape of Mrs. Ernest [Sarah] FAULKNER; the FAULKNERs will make their home at Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The charge against John SHINKLE for seduction was dismissed when the parties were brought into court and he offered to marry Miss Lucy FERGUSON in open court and thus satisfy the law; she declined; it is understood she was paid $400 to refuse to marry him.

Death of James MARTIN at the home of Mr. WILE near Sherman, Monday, February 21; aged about 75 years; was born in Virginia about 1820; his mother died when he was but a few weeks old and his father when he was but 4 years old; came to Kentucky at 14 and has lived in Dry Ridge and Sherman ever since; has no known relatives; was buried at Crittenden Cemetery on the 22nd.

The announcement of the horrible death of little Anna, the five-year-old daughter of W. H. MARKS of Jonesville, was received here [Williamstown] Wednesday morning. The child found a half-pint bottle of whiskey in the house during the absence of her mother and drank the entire contents, dying in a few hours later in great agony. She will be buried at Jonesville today.

4. Fred DAVIS, who lives about a mile south of town in Scott County, met with an accident last week which terminated fatally; while trying to fell a tree which was lodged he slipped and fell, the tree fell on him; he never fully recovered consciousness and died Friday night. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Robert LANCASTER and Mrs. Dr. W. B. ROBINSON of this place. He leaves a wife and a large family of children.

Flingsville News: Uncle Martin LOOMIS of Holbrook, who died the 25th, was interred in the Wilmington Cemetery last Sunday; was originally of this place; was a minister of the Baptist Church who "had been proclaiming the gospel the most of his life".

John CASTLEMAN of Cordova falls from his horse and is fatally injured; came to town on business last Monday and had been heavily drinking; leaves his wife and 5 small children; was buried Wednesday in Williamstown Cemetery; his oldest son had been out of Kentucky for years; his whereabouts unknown, but he arrived home a few minutes before his father died.

Minerva BARNETT has been an inmate of the Grant County Poor House for more than 22 years. She has cost the county $3,000, and while she is apparently as strong and healthy as any woman, she hopes to end her days in the county infirmary. She has a daughter about 30 years old who is also an inmate of the infirmary and has been for a long time.

Joe CHIPMAN of Heekin has taken from the poor farm a sweet little girl [10], the daughter of Mrs. Mary SHELTON, who is also an inmate of the poor house, and is talking of adopting her.

1. Dr. Charles BIRD and Miss Anna ROUSE were marred at the home of the bride. They will make Toledo, Illinois their home.
2. Died Saturday, April 16, Wm. BEACH, 78, of Paradise; after the funeral, he was buried by the Masonic Lodge in the cemetery at Mt. Zion.

Mason News: Louis McGLASSON of the "Regulars" [army] at Fort McPherson, Georgia, left last Monday for Pensacola, Florida, where his company has been ordered. [probably for the conflict with Spain]

Claysville News: Quite a number from this place attended the funeral of Mr. Chil. BROWN, Sunday.

Obituary - Achilles BROWN of near Dry Ridge, commonly known as Chill, died at his home last Friday and was buried in the Old NICHOLS burying ground Sunday; was born January 28, 1832; was never married and leaves two half brothers and one half sister.

Grant County has lost three paupers by death during the last week. Ephraim KNIGHT and Charlie YORK and a little NEGRO boy. The Negro was buried in the colored cemetery at Crittenden and the other two were laid to rest in the county lot in Williamstown Cemetery.

F. M. RAINES, a Church of Christ preacher of Cincinnati, is a Grant County boy; was born and raised on the waters of Grassy Run Creek about 6 miles west of Williamstown.

Mrs. McBEE qualified as the executrix of her husband's, Thomas McBEE, last will and testament. She lived with her husband in the same house in which she now resides for more than 54 years prior to his death.

In Memory - Mrs. Hattie PINKARD, wife of N. H. PINKARD, died at her home near Williamstown on the 14th; was about 60; husband survives; funeral was at Williamstown Methodist Church; buried in Williamstown Cemetery, overlooking the town.

Mrs. John H. NEW of near Cordova died Sunday evening of typhoid fever. Her remains were interred in the MORGAN Burying Ground.

Van HUTCHESON will leave for Montana where he expects to locate.

Steve O'BANION of this place and Mrs. SOWDERS of Keefer, were married at the latter place Thursday.

Rufus FIELDS and Miss Ethel WHITSON eloped Sunday night. This supposition is that they went to Vevay, Indiana to be married.

In Memoriam of Miss Maud WEBSTER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. WEBSTER, who lived near Crittenden, who died April 22, 1898; was born in Scotland County, Missouri, August 22, 1875; several years ago the family returned to the vicinity of Crittenden, where they formerly lived; died Friday of consumption; funeral was Sunday at the Crittenden Baptist Church, followed by burial in the cemetery of the Christian Church.

Mr. L. L. HARRISON of near Heekin, died of measles; was buried in Williamstown Cemetery; daughter of H. B. SHERIFF; leaves a husband and one small child.

Last Wednesday O. S. HOGAN and Miss Fannie HALBERG were married at the Presbyterian CHurch, Williamstown, by Rev. J. W. SIMPSON of the Methodist Church; best man was Ellie HOGAN; maid of honor was Miss Cornelia OVERSTREET; the groom is a young lawyer and native of Williamstown, being the son of Dr. O. P. HOGAN and Mrs. Lutie SMITH HOGAN; the bride is a niece of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. GRAY; almost raised in Williamstown, of Swiss ancestry.

Aged Judge J. H. THOMPSON of Cherry Grove died last week; he was buried in the cemetery at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Sunday; was first county judge (1850-1854) under the new constitution; was later county sheriff and school superintendent; lived on his farm near Hardscrabble; is survived by one child, Mrs. John MUSSELMAN.

C. W. BARNES, 70, died at his home west of Williamstown last Saturday; was one of the pioneers of Grant County; lived where he died for more than 50 years; first wife bore him many children who were at his bedside; many years ago he lost his first wife and married again, siring another family of children; he was buried in the family burying ground near his home; his second wife and many of his children survive.

Death of Elder Martin LOOMIS - was born in Campbell County, Kentucky, February 2, 1813; died at the home of his son-in-law, H. Z. ALLPHINE, near Holbrook, Grant County, March 25, 1898, aged 85 years, 1 month, and 23 days; was married to Miss Elizabeth MANN, December 17, 1835; of this union were born 14 children of whom 7 are living; began preaching soon after marriage at about 30; settled near the Grant-Pendleton COunty lines; baptized about 1000 people, funeral and burial was May 1. 1. Mrs. HOEKE of Cincinnati came up Friday to witness the wedding of her daughter, Beatrice.
2. Will R. HOLBROOK of Lusby's Mills died at his home Sunday evening. He is a son of Judge HOLBROOK of Owenton. His remains were laid to rest at Owenton.
3. Thomas PARR, who lives near here, committed suicide by hanging himself with a piece of bark Sunday evening about 1 o'clock. His body was not found 'til 5 o'clock in the afternoon and he had been hanging nearly 4 hours. The Coroner of Scott County held an inquest Monday morning and rendered a verdict that deceased came to his death by his own hands.

1. Jim FLYNN hied himself to Covington one day last week and married Miss Mollie RYAN, of that city; he is now located in South Dry Ridge.
2. The infant child of G. W. COLLINSWORTH died Tuesday night and was buried at Williamstown Wednesday.
3. W. H. ALEXANDER died Monday night at his home on the Baton Rouge Turnpike. His remains were laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery Wednesday.

Charles Omer PORTER and Miss Eliza Belle SIMPSON were married last evening at the Methodist church by Rev. SIMPSON; best man, his brother, James K. PORTER; bridesmaids, Misses Daisy PORTER and May CRAM; maid of honor was her sister, Miss Bertha SIMPSON; groom was born and raised in Williamstown, a son of the late Thos. S. PORTER; bride is elder daughter of Rev. J. W. SIMPSON; couple will live in Williamstown.

William H. ALEXANDER, who live 3 miles west of Dry Ridge, died at his home Monday, May 9, 1898; leaves a wife and large family of children; was buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery Wednesday after the funeral.

Aged Lawson HOPPER, living near town, died at his home Thursday of stomach trouble; buried in the Clark Graveyard, near Cherry Grove, Friday evening; leaves a wife and large family of children.

Miss Willie HALL of Heekin, daughter of Rev. G. W. HALL, and a sister to Mood and J. W. HALL, died at the residence of Mood HALL on Tuesday of consumption; funeral and burial was Wednesday at Grassy Run Baptist Church and cemetery.

Mrs. W. R. ELLISTON was called to Indianapolis by a Sunday telegram announcing the sudden death of her brother-in-law, Mr. WIGGS.

Harris MUSSELMAN and Miss Carrie VANLOUVIN were married at the home of the bride on the 4th; groom is son of J. H. MUSSELMan of Keefer, one of Grant County's largest land owners and wealthiest farmers; bride if the daughter of T. T. VanLOUVIN.
