Family Reunion was held Sunday, August 26, 1906, at the shady lawn and home
of George W. Fling, Flingsville, Kentucky; it was almost a double reunion
with the MENEFEE family present, several of whom had married FLINGs; George
and wife did not know the reunion was to take place, thinking they were to
spend the day with their daughter, Mrs. Robert CALDWELL and Mr. and Mrs.

C. VALLANDINGHAM, about 61,
died at his Williamstown home, Friday, September 14, 1906; lived in town
for about 25 years; was Sheriff for two terms; three persons never failed
him in his hardships and illness: his wife, son, and daughter. [probably
buried in Williamstown].
Mrs.
J. W. CHIPMAN died suddenly at her Williamstown home near the depot Monday;
after dinner she was seized with sudden nausea, wrenching, and vomiting and
died before medical aid arrived; was a Miss WALLACE before her marriage;
a brother alone survives her, N. T. WALLACE; buried Wednesday in Williamstown
Cemetery.

Ike KLEET and sister, Miss Eliza BICKERS, attended [church] meeting at Mason
Sunday.

Rev. M. S. CLARK is the new preacher in charge of this [Methodist Episcopal,

Sr. R. HIGHTOWER, 16, son of R. A. HIGHTOWER died at the home of his father
near Oak Ridge last Monday of brain fever; buried in Williamstown
Cemetery.

LINN, 62, died at Chicago of paralysis, Thursday, August 30, 1906;
was born and raised on property known as the Dave POINTS place; was a son
of Andrew LINN; he married Miss Ophelia GREGG, sister of Mrs. Carrie LOWE
of Covington, and a cousin of Dr. W. J. ZINN and his sister, Mrs. Alvin
LOWE.
Oscar
FRAKES and Miss Adah ARNOLD surprised their friends by being married in Covington
last Wednesday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Asa ASHCRAFT, by Rev. WOOD,
pastor of the 1st 4th St. Baptist Church; will live in Williamstown; bride
is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. ARNOLD; groom son of Rev. Henry
FRAKES.

News: Dr. and Mrs. BAGBY went to Covington last Wednesday to the funeral
of her brother, Hon. Weden O'NEAL.

Mrs. Lucia CONRAD YOUNG, wife
of J. N. YOUNG of Dry Ridge, died at her home Wednesday of last week after
suffering months with an internal and incurable malady; consistent Christian;
her husband survives her.

JACOBS, 94, died Thursday, September 20, 1906, at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Frank ROSE; lived at Clark's Creek for many years; four children survive:
Mrs. Martha CULBERTSON, Dayton, Ohio; Tom JACOBS, Jonesville; Mrs. D. STURGEON,
Zion Station; and Mrs. ROSE; Mrs. R. WHITTON and Mrs. W. WRIGHT, of Cincy,
attended the funeral Saturday; he was buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery; verse,

T. STEPHENS, the telephone lineman, married Miss Icy May FIGHT, daughter
of Ben FIGHT, Tuesday last at home of Rev. J. M. McKINLEY of the Baptist

W. E. JOHNICA, a brakeman
on the Cincinnati Southern, was found dead at the crossing just this side
of Crittenden on the morning of September 26, 1906.

News: Mrs. Samuel CLARKSON, who has been ill many months, died at her home
last Saturday; leaves husband, and 5

Leslie ECKLER died at his home July 14, 1906, leaving his mother, brother,
stepfather, and grandparents.

JUETT and Miss Jennie SHERIFF, daughter of Andy SHERIFF, were married by
Rev. J. D. REDD Thursday, before leaving for his [Redd's] new home in London,
Kentucky; bride is a cousin to Mr. JUETT's first
wife.

M. POWELL died at his Cincinnati home on Wednesday, September 19, 1906; home
funeral was Friday; was born and reared in Grant County and was a faithful
employee of the Courier for many years and worked in Cincy printing
establishments; he married Miss Yetta SMITH, daughter of George
SMITH.
Robert
L. WESTOVER, who purchased his discharge from the U. S. Army, was a member
of the 22nd Co. Coast Artillery, located at Ft. McRee, Florida which was
destroyed by the storm.

Wash ECKLER, about 65, citizen of Dry Ridge, died Monday, October 1, 1906
at the home of his daughter Mrs. LONG; was eldest among large family of boys;
surviving brothers are Newt, Francis Will, and John Will; burial in the Eckler
Cemetery.

Rupert LEWIS, one of the best known colored boys in town, died at his home
on Blain Avenue Sunday; was buried
Tuesday.

The Worth County Local at Sylvester, Georgia has a photo of Claude PAYTON,
who was born near Williamstown, January 29, 1873; he married Mrs. Alma Lucas
CUNNINGHAM.
5.
James BLAIN, youngest son of Capt. R. C. BLAIN [who died about 2 months ago]
will succeed his father as Route 4 mail
carrier.
6.
Henry WATSON of Butte, Montana is here; left Grant County 22 years
ago.

Monday that Walter ROUSE of Latonia died suddenly of asthma; as to where

OSBORN died recently at the home of a Mr. JACOBS, three miles from Council
Hill, Indian Territory, form a congestive chill; his son, George, arrived
a few minutes after he died; he was buried at Midway,
Ky.
Ralph
O'BANION, 11 year old son of Andy O'BANION, formerly of Grant County, but
now of Pisgah, Ohio, was accidentally shot in the breast and instantly killed
by a friend near his father's home one day last week; his younger brother,
10, was with him; was buried at Holbrook on Friday
last.

H. [William Henry] HARRISON or Uncle Harry died October 11, 1906; buried
in family burying ground; was born November 12, 1815 in Clermont County,
Ohio; his first wife was Emeline SKIRVIN to whom twelve children were born,
eight of whom are still living: Thomas E., Mt. Zion, A. Carter, Somerset,
Nix, Pendleton County, B. M. Hannibal, Missouri, Mrs. Belle RADON and Mrs.
Martha COOK of Missouri, Mrs. Sallie CASTLEMAN of Oklahoma and Mrs.
L. T. BLANCHETT of Williamstown; his second wife was Elizabeth HARRISON by
whom he had four children, three of whom live: Mrs. Ella FRAKES of Erlanger,
and John and Charles Carter of Covington; he was the last of his family except
one sister.

DARR, son of Dudley and Sallie DARR, who live near Cordova, committed suicide
Saturday, October 14, 1906, by cutting his throat; his mother is a full sister
to the late Mrs. W. F. WEBB of this place, and a half sister to Rev. J. D.
REDD; was a full cousin to J. W. WEBB, G. S. WEBB, Holly WEBB, and S. R.
WEBB; was buried in Williamstown
Cemetery.

ABERNATHY and Miss Madie SANFORD were married at the Hotel Alms, Cincinnati,
October 9, 1906,
Henry
BOSWELL, son of Richard BOSWELL of Dry Ridge, died at that place Monday of
pneumonia after a twelve day illness; grew up in Williamstown and was married
here when a young man to Miss Allie GODMAN, who with six children survive;
buried in Williamstown Cemetery Wednesday.
On
Monday, Miss Bee STROUDE, second daughter of Wm. STROUD, and Elmer R. JENNINGS,
were married at the home of the bride; groom's old home is Higginsport,
Ohio.
W.
H. WESTOVER, of Oak Ridge, is the father of 11 living children, all grown
and most of them married; at a dinner given recently at his home near town,
where most, if not all of them were born; there were seven of the children
and several grandchildren present: J. H. WESTOVER, wife and twin boys; R.
L. WESTOVER, just home out of the Army, Monroe WESTOVER, wife and son of
Cincy; Mrs. Warren STEVENS and two daughters, late of Henryetta, Indian
Territory, but going to meet her husband at Seattle; Roy WESTOVEr of Cincy,
Mrs. Arthur MARSHALL of Oak Ridge and Nancy May WESTOVER, the

died after 5 years of suffering; she used to sing, "When I am dead and buried

C. Y. DYAS, a former resident and attorney of Crittenden died in Covington
and was interred at Walton last
week.
2.
Last Sunday Marshal DUNCAN went to Bracht to arrest one BREEDEN, who drew
his gun and fired two shots and snapped his pistol a third time at the Marshal
when the latter shot him dead.
3.
Roy BURDGE of the U. S. Customs Service in the Philippines visited his mother
here, surprising his friends with a new bride, Miss Henrietta ETHART of
Covington; they married last Thursday; he was reassigned to and sailed for
Panama; his wife will join him next
March.
In
Memoriam. Mrs. Josephine WEBSTER, wife of Benjamin WEBSTER, died at her home
near Mt. Zion Wednesday, November 14, 1906, aged 52 years, 11 months, and
28 days; joined Clark's Creek Baptist Church at 48; leaves a husband, three
daughters and three sons.

FORD, the aged Hibernian rock-breaker and "old confed" [Confederate] was
taken to the [soldiers] Home at Pewee Valley last week by James P.
Webb.

S. O. GILLINGHAM suddenly expires while sitting in a rocking chair last Saturday
at her North Williamstown home; her sister, Mrs. J. M. RILEY was present;
was born at Berry, Harrison County, January 25, 1860; was a daughter of W.
B. and Anna ARNOLD, married June 6, 1880; to this union one child, Frankie,
was born; moved to Williamstown in May 1903, Joined Richland, Kentucky Baptist
Church at 14; was buried at Williamstown
Cemetery.

was a wedding at the Johnson House [Williamstown] yesterday {Wednesday, November
28, 1906] between Wm. BOEDDECKER, a cigar maker who once lived there and
worked in the old Silver Queen factory, and Mrs. Cora BLACKBURN of Weston,
West Virginia.

R. B. TURNER was run down and instantly killed by a train at Hogan Crossing,
near Dry Ridge; was 60 and leaves a wife and three children: Sam P. TURNER
of Covington, and Miss Eva and John, who live here with their mother; buried
in Williamstown Cemetery; was a
Baptist.
Samuel
SPENCER, president of the Q & C Route was recently killed in a railroad
accident.

Memoriam. Miss Lizzie GOALY, daughter of the late Patrick and Mary GOALY,
died at her home near Stewartsville, Tuesday, September 4, 1906 of consumption;
faithful Catholic; leaves mother, three sisters, and four brothers; buried
in Williamstown Cemetery beside her
father.

13, 1906:
Obituary. On the 3rd day of
December 1906, near Dry Ridge, Grant County, Richard Bartlett TURNER was
instantly killed by a fast mail train; was born in Owen County near Poplar
Grove on August 18, 1846; in young manhood he lived with Andrew GROSS near
Sweet Owen, Owen County, and married his foster daughter, Miss Kate Hendrix
Gross; to this union was born five children, two who died in infancy,
with three surviving the deceased father: Samuel P. of Covington, John and
Miss Eva of Williamstown, who live with their mother; joined the Mt. hebron
Baptist Church in Owen County in 1874; was a farmer, trader and hotel
keeper.
Clara
TOON died at her home in this city [Williamstown] Sunday morning of
consumption.
Miss
Lou THEOBALD, the last of eleven children of James THEOBALD, deceased, died
at the home of Thomas SIMS Wednesday of last week, coming just one week after
the death of her only surviving brother, E. D. THEOBALD, with whom she lived
on the farm of Abe ECKLER near Dry
Ridge.
F.
M. BRUMBACK a prosperous farmer of near Macon City, Missouri visited his
brother, Lafe, near here, and his sister, Mrs. Manoah LUCAS of Erlanger,
after more than 50 years away.

20, 1906:
Mrs. Atha Ann TIPPETT, wife
of Wm. TIPPETT of Harrison County, and sister to Rev. Alex and J. D. REDD
and moth of John TIPPETT of Jonesville, died at her home Friday, December
14, 1906, leaving a husband and two children; was born August 20, 1855 and
married March 26, 1872; was a half-sister of Mrs. W. F. WEBB who died some
years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Dudley LAWS are rejoicing over the arrival of a

Mrs. Ruth HINDS had a feast for her grandson, Marion HUDSON, and his

from the Baptist Church.

Williamstown Christian Church and will make their home in Athens,
Texas.

Thomas Jefferson GOUGE or Uncle Jeff died at his home on Fork Lick; was born
February 24, 1823 on the farm now owned by A. THRELKELD; kept the Gouge Hotel
in town a few years; was a strikingly handsome young man and a man of imposing
presence; tall of stature, large of frame; twice married and was father of
17 children, most of whom he survived; there are two of ten living by his
first wife, Sarah CLARK, viz, Millard and Marietta and four of the seven
by his second wife, Miss FITCH, sister to Rev. J. W. FITCH, viz, Mrs. WOODLY,
Mrs. STROBOKE, Mrs. RUHALL and T. J. Jr.; Jeff was always a farmer and stock
raiser.
Work
was received here Thursday of the death of Miss Clara HILL, third daughter
of Rev. G. W. Hill; was buried Friday in the Williamstown Cemetery beside
her mother; she was born in
Williamstown.
Crittenden
News: Miss Sennie DICKERSON and Chas. SLEET were married in Covington last
week; groom in in the livestock business in Columbus,
Ohio.

News: Wm. EDWARDS of Hamilton, Ohio and Miss Mary NORTHCUTT were married
Wednesday, December 19, 1906, at the home of the bride's father, Benton
NORTHCUTT.
