Miss Zetta Sullivan, a stepdaughter of J. R. Webster, who lives near Downingsville, swore to a warrant before R. L. Webb Tuesday charging Brack Johns, a young farmer 23 years of age, with being the father of a child recently born to her. Johns is a resident of Owen County and was recently married. The prosecuting witness is only 15 years of age and the accused is charged with the offense of rape. Zetta Sullivan, J. R. Webster and Dr. A. L. Abbott are named as witnesses on the back of the warrant.

Mrs. Pauline Price of North Main Street has been granted a pension of $25 a month on account of the services of her first husband, John W. Zinn, in the Civil War. She was further granted back pay to the amount of $467. The pension was procured through the efforts of her attorney, M. D. Gray. He advised that this is the first time in his knowledge that a pension has ever been granted the widow of a soldier who had later remarried.

Walton, June 20: Wm. H. Cram, one of our old and esteemed citizens, who has been an inmate of the sanitarium at  Lakeland, died there Monday, and the remains were brought home Tuesday and taken to his old home at Williamstown on Wednesday for interment. The funeral services were held by Rev. Amos Stout of Crab Orchard at the Williamstown Baptist Church, a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends being in attendance. Mr. Cram had been a member of the Baptist Church for many years and was a fine citizen. He leaves a wife and a large family of grown children.

Commencement exercises of the Class of 1918 of Williamstown High School were held at the Opera House last Thursday evening. The class was composed of Flora Sohard, Thos. D. Webb, James Kelley, John Juett, Ottis Littell, Tom Benson and Coloda Ashcraft. James Kelley, the salutatorian of the class had as his subject "The Fighting Spirit of Man," and delivered it a very creditable manner. Miss Flora chose as her valedictory address the "American Red Cross" and clearly outlined the great work that this organization is doing and has done in the past. Dr. W. A. Ganfield, president of Centre College, delivered the commencement address and Hon. Tim Needham, chairman of the board of trustees, delivered the diplomas. Music was furnished by the Gibson House Orchestra.

Walton Gleanings:
1. Dr. M. J. Crouch and J. W. Huey, of Union, spent Saturday here on business.
2.  Mr. and Mrs. Conner Littrel of near Richwood were presented with a daughter last Sunday morning.
3. Dr. H. C. Cram of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Harry Tetridge of Great Falls, Montana, spent last week here with relatives.
4. C. S. Chambers and A. M. Edwards attended the annual session of the State Undertakers Association at Louisville last week.
5. Mrs. Wm. Miller of Patriot, Indiana spent part of last week here on a visit to her sister, Mrs. D. B. Wallace whose health is gradually improving.
6. Mr. and mrs. Frank Walton of Bellevue spent Sunday here the guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Mayhugh and her brother, J. C. Mayhugh and wife.
7. Col. Samuel M. Waterhouse, of the Panama Canal Zone, spent part of the last week here the guest of his sisters, mrs. D. E. Bedinger and Mrs. R. O. Hughes, of Richwood.
8. Cecil Watson who has been at Camp Logan, Texas sailed for France last week. Thos. J. Hughes, who has been at Camp Sheridan, Alabama, expects to go to France next week.
9. Dr. and Mrs. B. W. Stallard and little daughter, of Madisonville, Ohio, spend Sunday here the guest of Judge and Mrs. T. F. Curley. Dr. Stallard attended the dental meeting at Lexington last week.
10. Miss Jennie Lee Gains, who has been undergoing treatment at the residence of Dr. B. K. Menefee at Covington, was brought home Sunday as it was though she would continue to improve with home conditions.
11. Callie Acree left Monday for Richmond to attend school.
12. Willard Ellis returned home Sunday from visiting in Cincinnati.
13. Mr. and Mrs. Rube Covington of Scott County visited S. H. Parker and family last week.
14. Dr. O. McGee spent last Wednesday with Walter Henderson and wife near Dillsboro, Indiana.
15. Miss Julia Gouge of Cincinnati came out Saturday to spend the summer with her parents.
16. Miss Ora Gouge returned to Cincinnati Sunday after visiting with her parents, Wm. Gouge and family.
17. Mr. John Conrad and sons, Guy and Walter, and her two grandchildren, Claude Lee and Relda of Dry Ridge, spent Sunday with Clay Conrad and wife.
18. Miss Ethel Wainscot who has been working at Dayton, Ohio came home Saturday to spend the summer.
19. Wesley Hicks, who was reared in this community and enlisted in Uncle Sam's service last September, came out from Ft. Thomas last Wednesday and joined the matrimonial list. Miss Viona Hughes and Mr. Hicks were married Wednesday evening at Owenton. Sunday at Antioch Church, Mr. Hicks gave a few minutes talk on army life which was very interesting. He likes working for Uncle Sam.

Sherman News:
1. Mrs. Frank Barker has returned from a trip to Somerset, Kentucky.
2. Bob Dickerson and wife were guests of W. T. Stewart, Sunday.
3. Mr. and Mrs. John Bowling are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby boy.
4. Mrs. G. W. Collins and children, Tom and Alice, spent Friday with Mrs. J. L. Price.
5. Miss Katherine Dickerson spent last week with her aunt, Miss Dudley, at Dry Ridge.
6. C. T. Morris visited his son, Lester, at Camp Taylor, Sunday.
7. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mitchell, who were married Saturday morning at the home of Rev. Marx, are visiting his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Points.
8. Chas. Faulstich and family of Dayton, Ohio motored through Saturday for a several days visit with his father, Wm. Faulstich and family.
9. Miss Eva Robert, Walton, spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. Harris Moore. Miss Mary Ransom of Verona is with Mrs. Moore for the week.
10. Clifford Franks passed through here Monday night enroute from Indianapolis where he has been in Mechanical training to Ft. Hancock, Augusta, Georgia.
11. Word has come to the family of Robert Adams of the death of his son, Lee Adams, in Phoenix, Arizona. The body will be brought here for burial at Big Bone, Boone County.

Marriage Licenses Issued by County Clerk Dunlap:
1. Charlie Mitchell and Margaret Wayland, both of near Crittenden. They were married Saturday at Dry Ridge by Rev. Marx.
2. Z. Gourley obtained a marriage license to wed Miss Junie M. Barnett, daughter of N. Barnett of Mason.
3. Bernard Nichtsing was granted a licensed to wed Frederick Johnson of Richwood, Kentucky. The groom is a native of Ohio.

Dry Ridge News:
1. Mrs. A. Smith has for her guest, Mrs. Ingles, of Millersburg.
2. J. R. Flynn was visiting relatives at Georgetown last Saturday and Sunday.
3. M. Reed and family and Mrs. Harry Drinkard and daughter motored to Elliston Sunday.
4. Stamp Stephenson and wife motored to Georgetown last week to visit relatives.
5. Miss Myrtle Simpson of New Columbus is visiting her uncle, Perry Simpson.
6.  Wm. Forsythe and wife and Mrs. Russell Forsythe motored to Camp Taylor to spend the day Saturday with Russell Forsythe who was stationed there, but when they arrived they were informed that he with many others had left camp just one hour earlier for another camp. It was a bitter disappointment to them as they had not seen him since he left here some time ago.
7. Miss Ella Myers is spending her vacation with Wm. Clements and wife and other relatives.

8. Miss Nellie Pigg of Erlanger is spending the week with her aunt, Mrs. Lucy Lang and other relatives.
9. Albert Stephenson and Miss Mary O'Banion were married last Wednesday in Cincinnati and returned to the groom's father's, Chas. Stephenson, where they will make their home for the present.

Jonesville News:
1. Mr. Herndon and family were delightfully entertained at the home of Dr. Abbott last Sunday.
2. Miss Edith Steger, who has been visiting relatives near Zion, returned Sunday accompanied by her cousin, Miss Lorena Mattox.

Personal and Local:
1. Miss Nannette Case is spending a few days with Miss Helen Beasley.
2. Miss Corinne Wilson of Millers is visiting Mrs. Kate Martin.
3. Mrs. J. C. Kells received a card from her nephew, Ambrose Ammerman, stating that he had landed safely in France.
4. Miss Helen Beasley entertained with a 500 party in honor of Miss Clara Bracht, bride-elect of Ferd Chipman. After the refreshments were served there was a shower of handkerchiefs for Miss Bracht.
5. Miss Bessie Carter left last Friday week for Des Moines, Iowa, where she will visit her sister, Violet Bri__gtman. She will stop in different parts of Illinois to visit her brothers, John and Frank, and other friends.
6. Mr. and Mrs. Asa Taylor and family entertained for dinner Sunday the following: Mr. and Mrs. West Taylor and family of Owenton, Mrs. Otha Harrison of Harrisburg, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hix, Mr. and Mrs. Obie Taylor and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Juett and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Wood, and Miss Rozella Rolland.
7. Mrs. T. D. Boyce had for guests Sunday, Mrs. Elizabeth lancaster, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Garrard of Berry, Mr. and Mrs. L. Tucker and son of Dayton, William Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. harmie Barnes and son, Misses Elva, Lillian and Shirley Scroggin, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Barnes and son.
8. Mrs. Emma Toole and W. C. Ware and wife went to Michigan and spent several days at Camp Custer with their son, Private Homer M. Ware. Homer send his love to all his friends here and says he wants to go on over to France and do his bit. His division is expected to go to France in July.
9. Mr. and Mrs. James A. Rednower announce the marriage of their daughter, Christian, to Gordon Barrow Higgins, which was solemnized at Louisville June 15. The bride and bridegroom arrived in Lexington yesterday and will be at home with Mr. and Mrs. Rednower at their residence on Loundon Avenue.
10. Charles Harrison, Thomas Benson, and Russell Burroughs, three splendid Williamstown boys, left Sunday for Detroit where they will seek employment. In a letter home Thursday the boys say that they are at work for the Packard Motor Car Company.
11. Mrs. Belle T. Clark, Mrs. Owen Hulett and Mrs. Thomas Dunlap spent the weekend in Cincinnati attending the commencement exercises of Frederick Roy Clark, who graduated from the Miami Medical College of the Cincinnati University. Dr. Clark has entered Christs Hospital to serve as an intern until called into medical service in the Army, in which branch he has already enlisted.

Mason News:
1. Miss Susie Dunn is now sales lady at T. & L. Kings.
2. George Sebre, wife and daughters of Dry Ridge, were weekend visitors to relatives.
3. Mrs. Ezra Ruddell and children and Mrs. Wm. Guill visited at Mrs. Elizabeth Rankins' Tuesday.

Miss Emma Line Arnold of Pendleton County, a graduate of the Williamstown High School, class of 1916, was married Wednesday of last week to Henry Galloway of Falmouth, the ceremony taking place in Covington. The nuptial know was tied by Reverend O. J. Steger. The ceremony was witnessed by a few intimate friends. After finishing her high school course here Miss Arnold engaged in teaching and taught two terms of school in this county where she met with excellent success. She recently took a civil service examination government position which she passed successfully. They will make their home for the present at Newport News, Virginia, where the groom holds an excellent position as machinist in the U. S. shipyards.

Wesley Hicks, who was reared in the community of Keefer, and enlisted in Uncle Sam's service last September, came out from Ft. Thomas last Wednesday and joined the matrimonial list. Miss Viona Hughes and Mr. Hicks were married Wednesday evening at Owenton. Their many friends with them a happy future. Sunday at Anticoh Church, Mr. Hicks gave a few minutes talk on army life which was very interesting. He likes working for Uncle Sam.
