F. Cunningham, son of Mrs. Susie Cunningham, reported for service at Fort
Thomas yesterday (Thursday).
Harry E. Waller, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, Pvt. Charles Case and Seaman
Louis G. Miller all of San Francisco, will receive The News for the duration
of the war.
Corp. Josie Martin, mechanic in the Air Corps, was at home for the day, Tuesday.
Charles Woodyard of Drew Field, Tampa, Florida, has been enjoying a furlough
at home.
We received a change of address this week from Lt. Rachel Noble who has been
stationed in Florida. Indications from her new address are that she has departed
for foreign shores. However, it is possible that she is at a hospital on
this side of the Atlantic.
Mrs. Janie Beach who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Lillie Armstrong of Winchester, has returned home.
Miss Chrystal Sipple, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sipple, has gone to Dayton, Ohio, where she has accepted a position of typist at Wrights.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Beach and sons, and friends of Cincinnati, visited Mr. and Mrs. Ashcraft Saturday and Sunday.
Aunt Alice Jump, who has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Orville Noel, is visiting her granddaughter, Mrs. Vernon Ashcraft.

Mr.
J. G. Blackburn was visiting his brother, J. H. Blackburn, who is ill due
to a slight stroke recently.
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. McCormick are visiting their daughter, Mrs. Harold Draper, who lives at Big Spring, Texas.
Mrs. R. B. DeVary and sons are visiting her mother, Mrs. J. H. Blackburn.
Rev. and Mrs. L. M. Hamilton have returned to their home after visiting his parents in Salyersville.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Goodman and son of Dayton, Ohio spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snow of Sherman.
Charlie Flege of Russell, Kentucky spent a few days here at his farm.
Mrs. Winnie Daughtery of Miami, Florida visited with her sister, Mrs. Howard Northcutt and Mr. Northcutt this week and was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Laura Redix.
Sgt. Walter Scott Flynn, who is in the Marines, stationed at Washington, D. C., is spending a furlough with his mother, Mrs. Walter Flynn and family.
Mr. and Mrs. John Simpson, Raymond Simpson and children of Williamstown, Mrs. C. B. Lawrence and Sue Frances Lawrence of Lexington visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Simpson.
Mrs. Sally Kinman has returned to her home in Covington after spending last week with her daughter, Mrs. Kirby Marksberry and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Hitch and son of Erlanger were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hutsell.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Florence of Latonia visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. House, Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Estelle Connley of Covington were Sunday guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Omer Connley.
Mrs. Lentie Milner and her two daughters of Williamstown and her son, Corp. Hobart Milner of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Milner the first of the week.
Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Orlie Herron were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Woodyard and Mr. Wilbur Woodyard and family of Oak Ridge, Mr. Stanley Woodyard and family of Dayton, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Woodyard of Williamstown, Mrs. Granville Martin (nee Mary Herron) and son, Mr. and Mrs. George Shadoan and two daughters of Cincinnati, and Corp. Charles Woodyard of Roberts Field, Tampa, Florida.
Miss Melrose Dunn is spending this week at the home of her uncle, Julian Caldwell, to assist Mrs. Allie Caldwell in caring for the home while Mrs. Caldwell is at a hospital for observation.
Miss Reva Delle Odor is spending this week visiting her sister, Mrs. Vardman Kennedy, at Cincinnati.

Pvt.
Frank Mason and wife are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mason and daughter for
a few days. Pvt. Mason is stationed in
Oklahoma.
Mr. and Mrs. Willie Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wilson, Mr. Charley Gray, Mr. Blain Gray and son, came Sunday to decorate the Wilson and Simpson Cemetery, as is their annual custom. They were entertained in the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Mitts.
Mrs. Mable York came Thursday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Simpson. Mrs. York is getting along fine after her recent operation.

Gus Kennedy of Detroit, Michigan spent a week's vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kennedy, returning home Saturday.
Miss Mildred Smith spent the past week visiting relatives at Frankfort.
Mr. and Mrs. James S. Webster and Miss Lillian Temple were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harlowe Smith and daughters.
Otto Green of Covington visited Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lawrence and family, Mrs. Cora Green and E. A. Green Sunday.
Mrs. Marcella Lillard spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Porter Lillard and family at Crittenden.
Glenn Anderson attended the wedding of Virgil Franks Jr. in Covington Saturday evening.
Miss Margaret L. Ferrell of Sidney, Ohio spent the weekend with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Ferrell and daughter, Ella Josephine.
Mrs. R. S. Bingham returned home after a pleasant visit with her son, Wilbur Bingham an wife at Camp Lee, Virginia.
Those reported sick are Miss Edith Hendricks, Mrs. Ora Collier and Mrs. Clyde Mardis.
Rev. and Mrs. L. N. Stamper were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Massie.

NEWS:
Mr.
and Mrs. Garnet Hays and two children of Louisville were guests of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. James Tuttle and her sister, Mrs. Margie
Maddox.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert House have moved to the farm of John Milner. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Osborne and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert House.
Marvin Brock was removed to a Covington hospital Saturday where he is very ill.
Mrs. Will Osborne and Mrs. Susie Weber continue ill.
Dorman Vannarsdal, son of Rob and Hallie Vannarsdal was inducted into the army last Friday.
Pvt. Jessie Lewis of North Carolina was called here June 4 to see his little son. His mother is remembered as Miss Edith Stewart.
Pvt. Robert Kelly, stationed in Tennessee, received word of the birth of a daughter June 5. The mother will be remembered as Miss Francis Brock.

RIDGE NEWS:
The
little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dunn, who has been in the hospital
since birth for treatment and operation, is now doing nicely after a successful
operation.
Mrs. Ben Neal suffered a severe heart attack Monday night and remains very ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Grover Ware have returned from a visit with relatives in Tennessee.
Word has been received of the death of Mr. Marion Odor of Danville, Illinois. He was formerly of Grant County and was married to Hattie Clemons.
Frances Lee Skinner graduated from Junior College at Williamsburg and is now home with her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Blackburn and daughter of Greenfield, Indiana, and Mrs. Minnie Ferrell of Cincinnati were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Astor Blackburn.
