VIRGIL CHANDLER SR.


Virgil Chandler Sr., 67, of Williamstown, died on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at his residence. Chandler was the owner of Chandler's Gun Shop in Williamstown and was also a member of Williamstown Christian Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a past master of Grant Lodge #85 F&AM for forty-three years, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Williamstown Chapter #301, member of the Grant County Historical Society and was Williamstown City historian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret West Chandler in 2004. Survivors include his sons, Virgil Chandler Jr. and William N. Chandler, both of Williamstown, daughter, Angie Chandler of Bardstown; brothers, Lee Chandler of Dry Ridge and Robert Chandler of Oglethorpe, Georgia; sister, Nellie Jean Chandler Sanford of Dry Ridge; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held on January 3, 2009 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown with Rev. Ronald Chastain officiating. Burial was in the Williamstown Cemetery.
