In the name of God, Amen, I, Perry Chipman of the County of Grant and State of Kentucky being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and despasing memory for which I thank God and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life, and be desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with, I give and bequeath in manner and form following, to wit, first, I desire that all the perishable part of my estate be immediately sold after my decease and out of the money arising there from all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid; should the perishable part of my property prove insufficient for the above purposes, then I desire that my executors hereafter names may sell my houses and lands lying in Grant County, and out of the moneys arising there from satisfy and pay such of my debts as shall remain unpaid out of the sales of the perishable part of my estate.

Second, after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses, I give to my wife, Anna, one third part of my estate both real and personal during the term of her natural life and afterward to descent to my children in the following manner (to wit) together with all my estate both real and personal of what manner or kind so ever it may be not particularly disposed of, I desire may be equally divided among my four children, viz, John, Salley, Joseph and James Chipman, my daughter, Nancy to receive two dollars out of the effects that may be disposed of as the legacy I bequeath to her. And lastly, I do hereby constitute my friends Daniel Harrison and Thomas Clark executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my and and affixed my seal this 16th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven.  Perry Chipman. This last will and testament of Perry Chipman, dec'd, was produced in court and proved by the oaths of Jesse Woodyard and Bernard Woodyard the two subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. Att: H. B. Smith, CGCC.
