of Retired Capitalist Found Lying In Back Yard of Home With Bullet Thru

A coroner's jury, summoned by Joseph Carter, Grant County coroner, returned an accidental death verdict late yesterday in the fatal shooting of Edward T. Collins, 65, retired miller and capitalist of Crittenden. Collins' body, a bullet wound thru the heart, was found yesterday lying in the back yard of his home. A pistol lay by his side. The body was found by D. C. Earle, a neighbor. Coroner Carter immediately summoned the jury of six for an inquest. The jury held the pistol had been discharged accidentally. Collins was widely known in Grant Co. He retired from active business some years ago, and thru investments had built a fortune estimated at nearly half a million dollars. He is believed to have lost most of his fortune, however, in the stock market crash. Her had been in ill health the past three weeks.
Collins is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Collins; three children, Mrs. R. C. Oldham, Louisville; Durbin Collins, Chicago; and R. L. Collins, -----oria, O. (tear in paper here), and two brothers, --- (tear in paper) Collins of Crittenden and R. D. Collins , Lexington. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 o'clock at the home.
Collins' death is the fourth in his family within the past year. A sister, Miss Fannie Collins, Crittenden, died March 19 while visiting in Louisville. His sister-in-law, Mrs. J. N. Collins, died last November and her son died a month later. A daughter of Collins died 20 years ago by drowning in a private pool at his home. His father was drowned accidentally in Eagle Creek, and his grandfather ended his life by drowning
