In the name of Almighty God, Amen. I, Samuel S. Durbin of the County of Grant and State of Kentucky do make this my last will and testament, whereas I owe the following debts, to wit: to Charles Secrest with Thomas D. Mackey and Moses Theobald security the sum of $330; to the estate of Britton Clay the sum of $200; to Hezekiah Thomas and the estate of his father, $200; to Thomas L Mackay the sum of $302.77; Lewis Myers the sum of $67.67; Lewis Buskirk the sum of $710;
the payment and satisfaction of the same I want made in the following manner, to wit: the sum of five hundred and thirty-odd dollars which will become due from Reuben L. Clarkeson, next fall, I wish so much as is necessary applied to the payment of the debt to Charles Secrest and the remainder thereof to be applied to the payment of the debt to H. Thomas and his father's estate; next I want my hogs fatted and sold for cash in hand and the amount to be appropriated to the liquidation, the balance of the above debts in the order in which they stand above that. Thomas to be paid first, Clay's next, Mackey's next, and so on to all are paid.

My half of a lot of two hundred and twenty four hogs at General Sowards? in Mason County, I wish sold and first General Sowards? to be paid the one hundred and fifty dollars advanced on them, with the interest for which a joint note is given by Mackay and myself for 300 $ and interest and after my half of that is paid and Gen'l Soward is paid for feeding said hogs according to contract, the balance of the money arising from them to be appropriated as follows to the payment of the balance of the above named debts.

All my personal estate I wish to be sold on ____ of six months and the proceeds when collected applied so far as necessary the payment of the above debts, and the balance if any to be applied to the payment of any other debts, if there should be any that have not been noticed, my notes and accounts I wish collected and applied as above and the balance if any remain I wish handed over to my beloved wife, July Ann Durbin, to be appropriated as she thinks proper, having disposed of the notes arising from the sale of my land, nothing further remains to be disposed of and, lastly, it is my request that Thomas L. Mackay and Hezekiah Thomas shall administer the same agreeable to the above directions. Signed the 26th day of July 1834. S. S. Durbin.   Witnessed: A. Norton and James Norton.

The last will and testament of Samuel S. Durbin, dec'd, was produced and proven in open court by the oaths of Arch Norton and James Norton, the two subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded:

Codicil written August 30, 1834 mentions that he sold land to Reuben Clarkson of the County of Bourbon. Appoints William S. Durbin as an additional executor. Witnesses: James Norton, Wm. H. Barlow.
