I, James Gouge, of the County of Grant and the State of Kentucky do make my last will and testament in manner and form as follows, to wit:

1st. I desire that all my just debts of every description and funeral expenses be paid by my executors hereinafter names.

2nd. I have given to my daughters Louisiana Williams, Junietta William and Marietta Kendall and to my son, William T. Gouge, their full and equal portion of my estate and they are to have nothing more from my estate either real, personal or mixed.

3rd. I have given to my son James M. Gouge, one thousand and fifty dollars.

4th. I give to my sons, Thomas J. Gouge, L. P. Gouge, John Q. Gouge, and Henry C. Gouge one thousand and fifty dollars each to make them equal with my son James M. Gouge.

5th. I give the remainder of my estate, real, personal and misted to my sons: James M. Gouge, Thomas J. Gouge, L. P. Gouge, John Q. Gouge and Henry C. Gouge and to their heirs equally to be divided between them which estate real, personal and mixed, I give to my five last named sons and to their heirs forever.

Lastly, I do hereby appoint my sons, Thoms J. Gouge and Henry Gouge, executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me made and I desire that the Court shall require no security from my paid sons on their bonds as my executors.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 2nd day of February 1853. Signed, James Gouge. Signed, sealed and acknowledged in the presence of M. Polk and J. Polk.

State of Kentucky Grant County Court December Term 1860.
The foregoing last will and testament of James Gouge, deceased, was produced to court at the above term, and after being free of error by the oath of M. Polk and of the attesting witnesses thereto, who also proved to be a non-resident of Kentucky was ordered to be recorded whereupon the same is duly recorded in my office this 16th day of January 1861.  E.
