Preston Hampton - Elizabeth Hampton

The wife, Eliza, at the age of 84 years appeared in open court and stated
her husband's services. He served in the Virginia Line under Captain Cox,
Colonel Russell, and Major West. They were married August 1779 from Loudoun
County, Virginia. They moved to Pittsylvania County, Virginia after their
marriage. He served as a Captain of a company under Colonel Lewis and Major
Winston.
Elizabeth Hampton was born May 31, 1780
Edward Hampton was born June 17, 1784*
Nancy Hampton was born August 12, 1784*
Edward born June 17, 1782
Polly Hampton was born March 14, 1786
James Hampton was born June 17, 1788
All of these birth records were taken from a family
record book which was produced in open court. He, Preston Hampton, died July
10, 1832. James H. Hampton corroborated his mother's statement.
Joseph Moxley swears that he has been acquainted
with them since the year 1775. Edward Spencer and David Lillard swears
acquaintance for the past thirty years.
He lived in the State of Virginia at the time of the Revolutionary, but
he was called to serve in the State of North Carolina under General Morgan.
Their daughter Mary Spencer appointed C. H. Barkley as her attorney.
