- S31178 At the time of this application he was at the age of 85 years. He was drafted in the western part of the State of Pennsylvania to serve under Captain Hinkston in order to guard the frontiers and they were considered as minutemen. They served under Colonel Pomeroy. He at that time received $8 per month in continental money. He then again volunteered to serve under the same offices for a tour of twelve months to defend the frontiers of the State of Pennsylvania against the British, the Tories and the Indians. All his services were rendered before Hannah Town was taken. He states that he moved to the State of Kentucky about fifty years ago into Bourbon County. Abraham Jones, Wm. Arnolds, and John Thornhill swear that they were at the time well acquainted with him. For a period of ten months he served as a private under Captain Hinkston and for one year under Colonel Pomeroy. He was on the Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $40 per annum. His certificate of pension was issued December 18, 1833 and it was sent to Honorable R. M. Johnson, House of Representatives.
