Dear Henrietta:
Was glad to hear from you. As you are the first one that has looked us up. Yes I guess I was the one that filled in the missing link as rest had been located thru me--they had New York police to contact Covington [Kentucky] police and a friend of ours was at the desk and gave all the information where I live and address and where to call so they called me from Boston, Mass. We talked about two hours. I gave them all information I could think of and they sent me a special delivery letter and I filled in the rest as I remember so many of our people as "Pap" CARLISLE had talked to me so much about all of them. I remember you and Bruce and when you was at our house and we went in a wagon to Uncle Sam sale - do you remember that. I was married to my first wife at that time. She died later on leaving me with 2 children and I remarried and raised 2 girls. Aunt Jane died in 1944, after Mom and Pop went away. She always came to live with us in the summer and with Anna and Aunt Martha in winter. She passed away before Aunt Jane, they are both buried in Florida. Aunt Jane gave all her money and her jewels to Anna and that is the estate they are trying to get settled, it all came thru her - but the METCALF have claimed part of it, so court divided it half and half and the CARLISLE heir have all been located and can be settled, don't know why it hasn't been unless they have use it all up for taxes, court and lawyers - it looks like a shame for so much to be left and none of it to reach any of the heirs, but that's the way lots of estates are done. All of Uncle Pole are gone but a granddaughter, never heard nothing from him since he disappeared December 24, 1928. We had 2 daughters at that time Lily & Olga living and we visited with them and Grandpaw (Pap) Carlisle died July 1934 and Mom passed away December 1944 ,there's only one son left Oakley and he is in Florida - all his family gone except 2 daughters - one lives with him - I have most of all the pictures of the CARLISLE generation have some of Bruce. Children by his first wife. Aunt Clara Mullins use to visit with us before she went away and talk so much about you and Bruce and Uncle Same. Well was glad to hear from you as not many of our people left. Wish you could come to see us sometime I have been in bad health for past 5 years and not able to work, have a heart condition and sugar diabetes, also my wife has not had health and sugar diabetes and 13 operations for cancer. So let us hear from you again - we appreciate your letter so much.
