"John was a member of the Cornstalk Militia of Kentucky. Serving as an Ensign
in the 26th Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Division dtd. June 15,1799 and July
30,1799. John was a member of the Grant Co. Legislature House of Representatives
from 1824 thru 1826. On April 12,1820 he was recommended to the Governor
to be commissioned as the first surveyors; that being a profession to that
day of considerable dignity and demand. John owned land around Sugar Creek,
Ky.

Hensley Marksberry was only married to Margaret a little over one year before his death. It's believed that Margaret was pregnant with John Hensley Marksberry at the time. William Conrad was appointed guardian for Hensley,who I believe was John Hensley Marksberry and he was going by Hensley at the time.

After Hiram's father, John Hensley Marksberry died, Hiram stayed on at Amanda
Hearn's fathers farm as a hired hand. He soon married Amanda. They later
divorced and he then married Mollie Sheriff.
Information received from Elaine Price, descendant of Hiram and Amanda Hearn:
"Hiram and Amanda divorced in 1890 Owen Co., Ky. Amanda returned to live with her father, taking baby Elva with her. Hiram retained custodial rights and guardianship of the 3 older children and took them to Daviess Co., around 1891."
