In
the name of God, Amen, I John Morris of the County of Grant and State of
Kentucky being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of
this frail life do therefore make, publish and declare this to be my last
will and testament, that is to say:
First, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, the residue of my estate real and personal, I give, bequeath and dispose of as follows, to wit: to each one of my children or their representatives $5, to wit: Mary Ashcraft $5, Thos. Morris $5, Sarah [no surname given] $5, Permelia Marksbery $5, Eda Smith $5, John E. Morris $5, Rebecca Page $5, Unisa Smith $5.
Secondly, I give and bequeath all the rest of my residue and the remainder of my real and personal estate to my daughter, Rachel Morris. Likewise, I appoint Franklin C. Page and my daughter, Rachel, to be executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 11th day of October in the year of 1855. Signed: John Morris.
The above written instrument was subscribed by John Morris in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us and he at the same time published and declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his last will and testament, and we at the testator's request and in his presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto and written opposite our names our respective places of residence. The
foregoing will of John Morris, deceased, was produced in court at the term
above stated and proved by the oaths of P. F. Hansbrough, G. W. Salyers and
William Gray, subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to record whereupon
the same is duly admitted to record in my office. Given under my hand the
