I, Ralph Collins of the County of Grant and State of Kentucky being far
advanced in years, but of sound mind and memory and knowing that I must shortly
die according to the course of nature do make and publish this my last will
and testament in manner and form following, to wit:
First, to my beloved wife, Margaret Collins, I give all the land on which I now live and all of which I may die seized of for and during her natural life.
Second, I desire that all the personal property I die possessed of shall remain with my wife, Margaret, during her life.
Third, to my son, William Collins, my daughter, Mary Balow, Mary Gree?, Jane Doughtery and my son, James Collins, I leave the sum of one dollar each having hereto provided for them.
Fourth, to my son, Joseph Collins, I leave the sum of twenty dollars.
Fifth, I desire that my son, Joseph H. Collins, shall take the special care and oversight of and provide for my wife and my grandson, Ralph Collins Dougherty, until the death of my wife and until my said grandson becomes of age to act for himself.
Sixth, to my son, Joseph H. Collins, I will all my real and personal estate of every kind and description that remains after the death of my wife and the payment of all my just debts, together with the before mentioned bequest and recollecting nothing more to dispose of, I appoint my son, Joseph H. Collins, my sole executor to to see that this my last will and testament carried into effect, and I hereby revoke all former wills that I have made. February Term 1847.
This last will and testament of Ralph Collins, dec'd, was produced in
open court on the 8th day of February 1847 and proven by the oaths of M.
Burnett and Henry Hall, subscribing witnesses thereto to be the act and deed
of the said R. Collins and ordered to be recorded, whereupon said will is
duly recorded in my office this 12th day of February 1847. Wm. Smith,
