At the time of this application he was at the age of 75 years. He was first drafted in the fall of the year 1776 from Shenandoah County, Virginia, for a tour of six months to be served under Captain Mason Jones, Lieutenant William Warron, who were all under the command of Colonel Thomas Allen. They then marched to the foot of the Alleghany Mountains and he returned home after a tour of two months.

He was drafted in an Indian expedition in April 1781 at Fauquier County, Virginia for a tour of three months and he hired Joseph Morris as a substitute.  He served under Colonel Edmonds and he went with his substitute to Fauquier Court house. They then went to Richmond in pursuit of Lord Cornwallis. He then substituted for a man by the name of Simon Harcell for a tour of three months and he started from Fauquier Court House Virginia on September of the year 1787 and he served this tour under Captain William Barclays and Major Welch.

They marched through Fredericksburg and Williamsburg and the siege of Little York and they remained there until the surrender of Lord Cornwallis. He then aided in marching one-third of the prisoners to Winchester Barracks in Fredericks County, Virginia and there they were discharged.

He was born in Fauquier County, Virginia February 1758. He was called into service for his first tour from Shenandoah County, Virginia and the two other tours he served from Fauquier County, Virginia. He removed to Culpeper County, Virginia to Grant County, Kentucky.

He was drafted twice and once he served his country as a substitute. General Wayne and General LaFayette took part at the siege of York. Colonel Allen commanded the Fort of Alleghany Mountain and Colonel Daskat was at Little York. He received a certificate for his wages from Captain Baileys.

William Conrad, a clergyman, and Charles Daniel swear that they were at one time well acquainted with him.  For three months he served as a substitute and for three months he hired a substitute. Jesse Woodyard swears that at one time he was well acquainted with him.

His claim was rejected because he served only five months in actual service.
