In the name of God Amen. I, Samuel Sheriff of Grant County do make this
my last will and testament tho weak of body but of sound mind.
First my soul to God and body to be buried, to my dear wife and three youngest children, namely, Thomas Canada Sheriff, Henry Berrisford Sheriff and Hugh Thomson Sheriff, I leave the one-half of my tract of land that I now live on to include the improvement and building, the other half of my land I leave to my sons Andrew Sheriff, John Fowler Sherif and William James Sherif in all the land about two hundred and eighty-eight acres and to my son Robert Sherif, I leave my silver watch. I further direct that my dear wife keep for her use the household and kitchen furniture and farming tools and one cow and calf and one colt and one half of my hogs, and I direct all the rest of my stock of hogs and cattle and one mare to be sold and the proceeds to be applied to all my just debts and the overplus, if any, to be divided between my dear wife and three youngest children.
I further direct and appoint my tow sons, Andrew Sherif and John Fowler Sherif my lawful executors to this my last will and testament as witnessed my hand and seal in the presence of this the 10th day of April 1842. Sam'l Sheriff. Thomas Clark, W. T. Gauge.

This last will and testament of Samuel Sheriff,
dec'd, was produced in court and proved by the oath of Thomas Clark and W.
T. Gouge whereupon the same was ordered to be recorded which is duly
done.
