In 1809 and 1828 he resided in Jefferson County, Kentucky. The date of date and place is not shown. When the veteran applied for pension he stated that he served as Major of the 13th Regiment and Lieutenant Colonel of the 9th Regiment of the Virginia Troops during the Revolutionary War, dates of service not given. Richard Taylor was pensioned under the Act of May 15, 1828. Pension was paid at the Kentucky Agency.

Warrant 494 for 450 acres of bounty land was issued March 20, 1810, and delivered to Colonel James Taylor on account of the Revolutionary War service of Richard Taylor.
