At the time of this application he was at the age of 72. He volunteered for eight months before the surrender of Cornwallis at Little York as a private in Captain Mills Company for a tour of three months at Alexandria in the State of Virginia on the Potomac River.

He then volunteered again for a tour of three months at Alexandria and he enlisted under Captain Mangers. He served at the Siege of York. Clemont and Wiliam Theobald were his two brothers. He knew both General and Captain Washington, General Smallwood and the Marquis De Lafayette.

William Conrad, a clergyman, Martin Draper, Lewis Myers and Lewis Sanders all swear that they were at one time well acquainted with him. He was born in St. Marys County, Maryland and was at the age of 72 on December 20, 1831. His son was Griffin Theobald.

He was called into the service from St. Marys County, Maryland and he moved to Paris, Kentucky and from there he moved to Woodford County, which was only four miles from Versailles and from there he moved to Licking River in Pendleton County, Kentucky and from there he moved to Dry Ridge in Grant County, Kentucky.

He received one of his discharges from Major Long. He was to receive $80 per annum from March 4, 1840 until September 5, 1840. He served in all for a period of two years. He was on the Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $80 per annum. His certificate of pension was issued January 9, 1833 and it was sent to Honorable R. M. Johnson, House of Representatives.
