394 In the name of God Amen, I, Reuben Thornhill do make this my last will and testament and my only one. First of all, I will my body to the grave and my south to the Lord who gave it. Secondly, I will to my beloved wife, Sarah Thornhill, all my real and personal estate so long as she remains my widow, but if she should marry she is to be put to her thirds as soon as she may marry. Thirdly, I will to my son, James Wesley Thornhill his mar? saddle and yoke of oxen, bed and bedding. Also to my son, Thomas B. Thornhill his mar?, bed and bedding ___ and jack is his also. To my son Reuben C. Thornhill his sorrell horse and bed and bedding likewise. I will to my daughter, Sarah Josephine her sorrel mare, bedding. And after my wife's death all the property real and personal to be sold on a credit of twelve months and an equal division among my children, to wit, Nancy Sally [Sallee], Polly Thornhill, Susannah Coleman, Lucy Childers, James Wesley Thornhill, Thomas B. Thornhill, Reuben C. Thornhill and Sarah Josephine Thornhill.
All my just
debts must be paid off out of my estate, and I further appoint my beloved
wife and Christopher Mussleman my executors. In testimony whereof I have
set my hand and seal this 8th day of August 1843. Reuben (X) Thornhill. Attest:
