In the name of God Amen. I Charles West of the County of Grant and State of Kentucky being of sound mind do make this my last will and testament, to wit:

1st. I will and desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid after my death and to enable my executor herein after named to pay the same. I desire that all my horses be sold but 2 to be selected by my wife, and all my cattle except what may be kept by my wife, and also all of my hogs except a sufficient number for to make what for my family, and all other property my wife may desire to have sold.

2nd. I will and desire that my farm on which I live may be kept by my wife, Margaret, during her life for her own use and to _____ my young children and in order to have the farm laid off to my wife, I desire that 100 acres may be laid off so as to include the farm, which 100 acres I want for the use of my daughter, Francis Ann, so far as to give her her support after my wife's death, and the remainder of the profit of said land after my wife's death, over supporting my said daughter, I give to my sons, John and Smith, and I desire that the same together with the land may then be equally divided between them. I desire that the 100 acres other of my land be equally divided between my sons, William, James and Richard, after my death.

After the death of my wife I desire that all personal estate which she may keep after my death be equally divided among my children, after making my daughters, Jeminah and Josephine, an allowance out of the land to make their share amount to as much each one as the separate lots of my boys, Will, James and Richard's land will amount to. Lastly, I appoint my wife, Margaret, and son William my executors to convey this my last will and testament into effect. Given under my hand this 3rd day of January 184t.  Charles West. Grant County Court February Term 1845.
The last will and testament of Charles West, dec'd, was produced to court at the February Term 1845 and proven by the oaths of Alfred Kendall and William Smith, the subscribing witnesses, thereto to be the act and deed of the said West and ordered to be recorded, which is accordingly done this 25th day of June 1845. Attest: William Smith, Clerk, by James H. Parker, Deputy Clerk.
