William Wharton
State of Kentucky - County of Grant

William Wharton, aged 73 on March 1st last, of Grant County. He served in the Revolutionary War, enlisted on September 1, 1774 for three years in the company of Captain Samuel Miller attached to the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment commanded by Colonel McCoy in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. "He was in the battles on the western waters the place where he enlisted to served at in 1777 then commanded by Captains Brady and Clarke on scouting partied on said waters, the western waters being headquarters for Colonel McCoy's army at that time." On April 21 1819 he was issued pension certificate #9563. He was a resident of the United States on March 18, 1818 and he has not since then disposed of any of his property. His property schedule includes one horse and one note. He is also indebted to various persons for $44. He is a weaver but very infirm and totally incapable to pursue it. He has living with him, his granddaughter, Agnes Niln?, aged 16 years, very weakley.  August 21, 1820. Recorded August 24, 1820.
